David Coleman captured the first title of the 2025 Poker Masters, taking down the inaugural $1,000,000 Showcase at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The American professional outlasted a 239-entry field in the $5,100 no-limit hold’em opener to win $270,000 and move into the lead for the coveted Purple Jacket, awarded to the overall series champion. Jim Collopy, last year’s Poker Masters winner, returns as the defending champion.
Strong Start for Coleman at the Final Table
The seven-handed final table began with Coleman narrowly trailing chip leader Andrew Ostapchenko. The Californian pro quickly applied pressure, extending his advantage when his pocket kings held against Doug Lee’s smaller pair. Lee, who qualified via a PGT satellite, finished sixth for $49,000. Earlier, Jim Agate was the first to fall in seventh place for $40,000.

Coleman then gained momentum by eliminating Spencer Champlin in fifth place for $60,000. Shortly after, he scored a pivotal knockout when his A♦8♦ cracked Stephen Song’s pocket kings, making a flush on the flop to send Song out in fourth place for $75,000. Song, one of the most consistent performers on the global circuit, briefly held the chip lead before suffering the decisive blow.
Ostapchenko Fades, Halverson Reaches Heads-Up
Ostapchenko, who had dominated much of the early action, began to slip after doubling up short stacks and eventually exited in third place for $120,000 when he lost a race to Coleman. That set up a heads-up match against Mitchell Halverson, with Coleman holding a 3:1 chip advantage.
Halverson closed the gap at one point, but the contest ended in another race that secured Coleman’s victory. Halverson collected $185,000 for his runner-up performance. With the win, Coleman’s career live tournament earnings rose to nearly $11.7 million, according to The Hendon Mob database.

Halverson Stays Hot in Event #2
Although Halverson fell short of the opening title, he carried momentum into Event #2: $5,100 No-Limit Hold’em, where he reached the final table from a 130-entry field. Already guaranteed $26,000, Halverson could secure up to $157,000 if he converts his short stack into victory, which would make him a major contender for the Purple Jacket leaderboard.
