The RunGood Poker Series Grand Prix Pennsylvania $800 Main Event concluded at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course with Chadd Beatty claiming the title. The Pennsylvania local and regular cash game player outlasted a field of 165 entries, earning $26,018, his second RGPS ring of the week, and a seat to the RunGood Dream Seat Invitational in November. The prize pool reached $115,500, more than double the guarantee.
Beatty’s Results in the Series
Beatty reached three final tables during the Pennsylvania stop and won two of them, including the $200 One Day Ring Event on September 17.
“It feels good to make three final tables, win two of them,” Beatty told PokerNews. “I ran really good, it’s not like I did that much work, you know, the deck hit me in the face.”
In the Main Event, Beatty entered Day 2 with the second-largest stack after leading his Day 1c flight. His run nearly ended late on Day 1 when he was short-stacked with 78,000 at blinds 5,000/10,000, but a double-up with pocket kings against deuces allowed him to continue with momentum.
Day 2 began with a setback as he lost over half his stack in the first two levels. A flip with pocket jacks against ace-king gave him the lead again and put him among the top stacks.
Key Hands at the Final Table
The final table featured shifting chip leads. Beatty eliminated Christopher Coles in third place by slow-playing ace-king. He entered heads-up play with Rob Gardner nearly even, holding 2.5 million to Gardner’s 2.4 million.
The two agreed to adjust the payouts but continued to play for the RGPS ring. Beatty won the final hand when his pair held.
