The return of the PokerStars Big Game on Tour on Sunday felt more like “The Alan Keating Show,” as the high-stakes regular dominated from the opening hand. Playing in a $200/$400 no-limit hold’em cash game, Keating won the first six pots and leveraged his deep $500,000 stack against opponents who each began with $100,000.
Despite the overwhelming presence of Keating, the spotlight also shined on Loose Cannon Luke Moy, who exceeded expectations in his debut and finished the episode with a healthy profit.
Keating’s Early Control
From the very first deal, Keating established his aggressive style. Holding K♣7♣ on a J♥3♠7♠ flop, he improved to trips on the turn against Moy’s top pair. Keating’s check-raise pressure forced the novice into a disciplined fold after the river brought the A♥.
Over the session, Keating mixed value hands with bold bluffs, including pushing two players off small pairs on an ace-high board holding only 10-high. In another highlight, he bet $35,000 on a straight-heavy board with J♥9♥ while playing the board, ultimately chopping the pot after vlogger Alexander “Wolfgang” Seibt called.
He closed the episode by cracking Wolfgang’s top pair with a turned straight, firing a large river overbet that went uncontested. By the end of 27 hands, he had built a profit of $90,400, comfortably the biggest winner at the table.
Loose Cannon Luke Moy Holds His Own
British player Luke Moy entered through an audition at Resorts World Las Vegas and became the second Loose Cannon of Season 2. Unlike many newcomers, he didn’t shy away from pressure despite never before buying into a game above $400.
One key hand saw Moy scoop an $18,000 pot with the nut flush against Morgan Jay’s top pair. His biggest win came during a bomb pot when he rivered a higher straight with 10♥6♠ against Wolfgang’s 7♦6♦. Facing a $21,000 bet into a $31,200 pot, Moy made the call and dragged in the $52,200 pot.
With these wins, he ended up $48,800 in profit. Under the rules, the Loose Cannon can keep all profits once he completes 150 hands. This is in sharp contrast to Jordan Handrich, the first Loose Cannon of the season, who lost her entire stake earlier in round one.
Other Results Across the Table
Not everyone had success in Episode 6. Jason Koon dropped $30,700, Lex Veldhuis fell $53,200, and Morgan Jay struggled most, ending down $55,600. Wolfgang finished close to even.
Through six episodes of the show, Keating remains the dominant figure, both in table presence and results. Episode 7 will continue next Sunday on the PokerStars YouTube channel.
