Chi Jen Chen denied Shi Rong Wang back-to-back Titan Stack Daily titles on Day 3 of Gods of Poker’s Trial of Wisdom, defeating first-event winner Wang heads-up to collect NT$279,000 from a 92-entry field in Taipei.
Wang had built a commanding lead late in the NT$11,000 event, but Chen doubled through him twice at the final table before eliminating Chuyi Huang in third place. Wang finished runner-up for NT$172,900.
Chen Overcomes Wang’s Lead to Take the Title
Wang entered the latter stages as the player to catch, having already won the first Titan Stack Daily of the series.
Chen doubled through Wang twice at the final table before facing Huang with three players remaining.
Chen held K♠Q♠ against Huang’s 8♦8♥ and won the hand to set up a heads-up match with Wang.
The title was decided with Wang holding A♣10♦ against Chen’s A♦J♠. Wang paired his ten on the turn of the 9♦ 8♣ 2♣ 10♥ Q♣ board, but the river queen completed a straight for Chen.
The win earned Chen NT$279,000, while Wang collected NT$172,900 for his runner-up finish after winning the opening-day Titan Stack Daily.
Shinnosuke Takuma Leads Final Three in GOP High Roller
Shinnosuke Takuma will return as chip leader when the final three resume play in the NT$165,000 GOP High Roller.
Takuma was down to around seven big blinds when he doubled through Rob Hollink with ace-queen against ace-four. He later doubled again against Rene von Reden, this time with ace-jack against ace-king.
On a 9♠ 8♥ 7♣ 5♠ 2♦ board, Takuma called von Reden’s river shove with A♥9♦ for top pair and picked off his Q♠J♠ bluff.
Takuma then eliminated Mikael Andersson with A♣K♠ against K♣Q♣, finishing Flight A with 1,126,000 chips. Von Reden advanced with 329,000.
Fendy Kosasih qualified through Turbo Flight B with 480,000, completing the final three.
