Rudy Edenata won the NT$110,000 Titan Stack High Roller after a heads-up match that lasted just three hands, while Tomoya Yasukawa closed out the 89-entry Titan Stack Daily by eliminating the final five opponents in succession.
Day 2 of The Trial of Wisdom took place at Asia Poker Arena in Taipei. The event is part of the sixth edition of the Gods of Poker live tour and is being held in cooperation with CTP Club.
Edenata Wins NT$360,000 After Three-Hand Heads-Up
Edenata began heads-up play against Chi Shing Man with roughly twice as many chips. Both players had already locked up NT$216,000, while the winner would receive NT$360,000.
The match lasted only three hands.
On the final hand, Edenata raised preflop and Man defended. Man check-raised the 10♣ 5♣ 3♦ flop before both players checked the A♦ turn.
The 4♥ river missed the club draw, and Man moved all-in with K♣ 3♣ for a pair of threes. Edenata called with 5♥ 3♥, having flopped two pair, to secure the title and the GOP Gauntlet trophy.
Edenata later entered both the Single Day High Roller and Titan Stack Daily but did not add another title.
Yasukawa Takes Down 89-Entry Titan Stack Daily
The NT$11,000 Titan Stack Daily reached 89 entries after 24 players joined during the break at the end of late registration. The event carried a NT$1 million guarantee and finished with a small overlay.
Wen Chi Wang later moved all-in with A♣ J♣ against Yasukawa’s J♠ J♦, and the pocket jacks held. Soon afterward, the final two tables were set with Yasukawa holding the chip lead.
Jui Heng Chang then moved ahead after both players made trip jacks. Chang called Yasukawa’s river shove with the better kicker to take the lead.
Chang was also responsible for bursting the money bubble. He moved all-in with Q♥ 8♥ as the table chip leader, and Chi Hao Yang called with J♥ J♦. Two eights appeared on the flop, eliminating Yang and putting the remaining players in the money.
Yasukawa responded with another key win when his 8♣ 8♦ held against Ting Hsu Hsieh’s J♠ 10♠, bringing him back among the chip leaders.
By the later stages of the final table, the average stack had fallen to 13 big blinds. Tsung Wei Lee took the lead with six players remaining, but Yasukawa moved back in front as play reached five-handed.
Yasukawa then eliminated Hyunjun Kim, collected I Chung Chen’s remaining chips and knocked out Sul Bum Kim with K♥ Q♠ against K♣ 7♣.
Heads-up lasted only three hands. On the final hand, Yasukawa’s A♠ J♥ held against K♦ 5♣ to secure the title.
That final knockout completed a run in which Yasukawa eliminated the last five opponents in succession.
Hasegawa, Ming Che Yang Among Other Day 2 Winners
Tomoya Hasegawa won the Single Day High Roller for NT$168,000, with Rob Hollink finishing second.
Hollink reached another heads-up match in the NT$27,500 Turbo High Roller, where Ming Che Yang took the title and the NT$120,000 top prize.
Jia Qi Wu won the first Aphrodite's Event of the series for NT$27,000, while Ching Ching Yuen finished second for NT$16,200.
Jaesung Kang won the second NLH Midday Mid-Stakes for NT$108,000, with Horikoshi Shingo taking second for NT$64,800.
Fuk Tak Lam won the BIG O Event and collected NT$50,440.
The NT$3,500 Hyper Turbo Event drew 23 entries for a NT$66,240 prize pool. Young Woo Han defeated Takeshi Shinohara heads-up and earned the NT$28,940 top prize.
Xuan Min Wang Tops Accumulator Flight B
Accumulator Flight B drew 40 entries, bringing the combined field to 74 after the first two flights.
Six players advanced and joined the five qualifiers from Flight A. Xuan Min Wang finished with the largest stack at 712,000, followed by Junsu Lee with 554,000 and Rene Von Reden with 492,000.
Li Ta Hsu bagged 310,000 after already advancing with 271,000 from Flight A. He became the first player to secure a second stack and earn the NT$25,000 bonus, with the two stacks set to be combined.
Yin Chung Lee advanced with 212,000, while Heng Zhe Hu finished with 129,000.
NT$1 Million Titan Stack Daily Returns on Day 3
The NT$11,000 Titan Stack Daily returns on Day 3 with another NT$1 million guarantee. Play begins at 12:30 p.m. local time, with late registration open until 3:45 p.m. The third level is extended to 90 minutes.
The same Titan Stack Daily format is scheduled to run five more times during the remainder of the festival.
Day 3 also includes a NT$7,700 PLO Bounty Event, while the two GOP High Roller flights begin at 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Accumulator Flight C starts at 7 p.m. with a NT$5,500 buy-in and a NT$3 million guarantee. Late registration remains open until 9:45 p.m.
The NT$16,500 Midday Mid Stakes, NT$5,500 Aphrodite's Event and two Hyper Turbo events are also scheduled for Day 3.
