Artur Martirosian captured another WSOP title in Las Vegas, winning Event #24: $25,000 High Roller Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em for $1,286,285 and the fourth bracelet of his career.
The Russian pro defeated Pavel Plesuv heads-up for the title. Plesuv finished second for $857,510, while Sean Winter, who began the final six as chip leader, ultimately took third place for $597,635.
Winter Leads the Final Six, but Martirosian Takes Control
The final table began with seven players. Klemens Roiter was the first to exit, finishing seventh for $159,884.
When play reached the final six, Winter held the lead with 7,950,000 chips, equal to 99 big blinds. Martirosian remained close enough to challenge as the table continued to shrink.
Chance Kornuth was eliminated in sixth place for $218,091. He was all-in with ace-king against Yosuke Miki's ace-queen, and Miki improved with a queen to send Kornuth out.
Marius Gierse followed in fifth place for $301,347. Miki then exited in fourth for $421,718 after getting all-in preflop with ace-ten against Martirosian's ace-jack and failing to catch up.
Plesuv Knocks Out Winter Before Heads-Up
Winter's tournament ended in a major three-handed pot against Plesuv. On a king-high flop, Plesuv had a set of nines, while Winter later picked up straight outs on the turn. The river paired the board, giving Plesuv a full house and eliminating Winter in third place.
Martirosian and Plesuv then entered heads-up play with nearly even stacks. Martirosian gradually built a lead before the final hand, where he raised with pocket fours and Plesuv moved all-in with ace-nine.
Martirosian called, and the pocket fours held. Plesuv finished runner-up for $857,510, while Martirosian secured the title, the $1,286,285 top prize, and his fourth career WSOP bracelet.
