A Historic Victory in Las Vegas

Las Vegas witnessed history as Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi triumphed over a massive field of 9,735 players to win the 2025 World Series of Poker Main Event. The victory earned him $10,000,000 and the diamond-encrusted Main Event bracelet, completing the most important milestone of his two-decade career.

Already a seven-time bracelet winner and the only player with four Poker Players Championship titles, Mizrachi added the Main Event crown and was instantly inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame, bypassing the usual voting process.

Fastest Final Table in Modern History

The 2025 final table concluded in just 79 hands, the shortest in the last 20 years. On the final day, only 20 hands were needed for Mizrachi to seal the championship. The decisive moment came when John Wasnock’s two pair lost to Mizrachi’s turned flush, ending the contest in emphatic fashion.

Champion’s Reaction

“It was a crazy hand. I think, after all these days, I couldn’t even see the cards. I thought he had the ace of clubs, then I thought he was drawing dead. And then they said, no, no, he has two pair. I didn’t even realize that,” Mizrachi said with the diamond-encrusted Main Event bracelet around his wrist.

He added: “I feel like the Main Event title was cement. I cemented everything. That’s all I wanted was the Main Event. I did what I had to do in the poker world. Achieved the Hall of Fame. I’m never going to retire, so don’t worry about that. I’ll be back next year for a lot more.”

From Short Stack to Unstoppable

Mizrachi’s path to victory was filled with drama. He bagged the chip lead on Day 1, but fell to just two big blinds on Day 8 before spiking a crucial river card to survive. On Day 9, he hit another three-outer on the river to double up, eventually carrying more than 75% of the chips into the final day.

Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth suggested that if Mizrachi won the Main Event, he should be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame immediately. WSOP Vice President Jack Effel, along with legends such as Phil Ivey, Brian Rast, and Jen Harman, made it official at the final table.

“That’s amazing. God bless them all…Thank you so much. I feel like it was well deserved. I don’t know, I don’t mind. I could’ve waited until next year. It just motivates me more. Makes me hungrier,” Mizrachi said.

Day 10: Quick Knockouts

The final four returned with Mizrachi holding 445,500,000 in chips. On the very first hand, Kenny Hallaert shoved with ace-queen but lost to Mizrachi’s king-jack when a jack hit the turn. One hand later, Mizrachi’s ace-ten made a flush against Braxton Dunaway’s ten-six, knocking out the Texan in third place.

Heads-Up: A Cinderella Story Ends

The final battle paired Mizrachi with 50-year-old investment consultant John Wasnock, who entered the event with just over $140,000 in live tournament earnings. It was a classic David-versus-Goliath matchup.

Wasnock fought back bravely, winning several pots and catching Mizrachi bluffing. But the momentum shifted when Mizrachi made a straight on the river and later trapped Wasnock with a flush against two pair. On the 79th hand, Mizrachi’s ten-three of clubs completed the winning flush, while Wasnock’s dream run ended in second place.

“All the support behind me, I couldn’t let them down,” Mizrachi said as his rail erupted in celebration.

A Legacy Sealed Forever

Mizrachi’s dominance at the 2025 Main Event final table is already being hailed as one of the most commanding performances in recent memory. His banner will forever hang in the Horseshoe Event Center alongside past champions.

“I told you an hour,” Mizrachi said with a smile. “Everything went my way. I knew I was destined to win.”

With seven WSOP bracelets, four Poker Players Championship titles, and now the Main Event crown, Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi has secured his place among the greatest players in poker history.
