Jamie Dwan captured his first WSOP bracelet in Event #90: $50,000 No Limit Hold'em High Roller, defeating Daniel Rezaei heads-up to claim the title and the $2,276,691 top prize.
The three-day event drew 202 entries, with only 13 players returning for the final day. Bryn Kenney and Daniel Negreanu were both still in contention when play resumed, but Dwan survived the late stages and completed a dramatic heads-up comeback.
Dwan Completes Heads-Up Comeback
Dwan began heads-up play against Rezaei as nearly a 5:1 underdog. He climbed back into contention when his straight beat Rezaei’s set of sevens, then later took the lead after calling Rezaei’s bluff.
The advantage changed hands more than once before the final all-in. Rezaei held ace-ten against Dwan’s ace-jack, and a queen-high board kept Dwan ahead to close out the tournament.
Rezaei finished second for $1,517,782, while Kenney took third for $1,041,908.
Negreanu Falls Short of Ninth Bracelet
Daniel Negreanu reached the official final table but was unable to win a ninth WSOP bracelet. He was eliminated in eighth place for $226,086 after getting all in with ace-king against Dwan’s pocket nines.
Kristen Foxen missed the official final table, finishing ninth for $179,480 after running into Josef Schusteritsch’s pocket kings. Daniel Smiljkovic finished seventh, Timur Margolin sixth, Schusteritsch fifth, and Paulius Vaitiekunas fourth.
