Cronus Structure Adds Approx. 40 BB Transition Level for GOP Taipei II

Gods of Poker will update the Cronus Structure at GOP Taipei II by adding an intermediate level at approximately 40 big blinds between 60 BB and the existing 30 BB late-registration point.

The change addresses a specific piece of player feedback: while the 30 BB late-registration approach was generally supported, some players felt the move from 60 BB to 30 BB happened too abruptly.

A Smoother Step Toward 30 BB

Under the current structure, the starting stack can move from 60 BB to 30 BB in a single level as registration closes.

Beginning with GOP Taipei II, the revised structure will introduce an intermediate step at approximately 40 BB.

Starting blinds will remain unchanged, registration will still close at the same point, and the 30 BB late-registration approach will continue across all non-turbo events.

The new level changes the progression into registration close without extending the registration period.

Player Feedback Behind the Change

GOP says the adjustment follows five stops of using Cronus in live tournament conditions and feedback from the players competing under the structure.

Lloyd Fontillas, Gods of Poker Founder & General Manager, said Cronus was designed to be refined when practical improvements could be made without changing its core purpose.

“Cronus was never meant to be untouchable. It was built around a simple idea: respect players’ time without compromising the quality of the game.”

Fontillas described the 40 BB transition as a refinement of Cronus rather than a redesign.

The Cronus Approach Stays in Place

Cronus is designed around removing levels that are considered unnecessary while keeping those that contribute to the tournament experience. Its aim is not simply to make tournaments shorter, but to use time more efficiently without sacrificing the quality of play.

After five stops and thousands of hours of tournament play, GOP says it now has more live-event experience with the structure to inform further adjustments.

The updated Cronus Structure will begin at GOP Taipei II, with the approximately 40 BB transition added while the existing 30 BB late-registration approach remains in place for non-turbo events.
