Last Chance Finale Victory Delivers Fifth Title of the Season and the Points Lead

Alex Foxen locked up the 2025 PokerGO Tour Player of the Year award in a true down-to-the-wire finish, winning the final tournament of the PGT Last Chance series to jump past Sam Soverel for the top spot.

Foxen entered the finale with the math clear. He needed a fourth-place finish or better to overtake Soverel in the season-long standings. Instead, he closed the door himself, winning the tournament outright for $232,400. The victory was Foxen’s fifth title of the 2025 PGT season and pushed his total to 3,134 PGT points, edging Soverel’s 2,979.

Chino Rheem made a late run during the six-event PGT Last Chance series, cashing four times and keeping the race three-handed into the final days. Rheem finished eighth in the finale and ended the season third overall with 2,803 points.

Foxen’s POY case was built across the calendar, beginning in late March and early April during the PGT PLO Series, where he posted his first PGT win of 2025 along with two second-place finishes and a third-place result. He followed with another April win at the U.S. Poker Open, taking Event No. 7 for $340,200.

His biggest single points score came at the 2025 World Series of Poker, where he finished runner-up in the $250,000 Super High Roller for $3,060,314 and 600 PGT points. He added wins later in the year at the PGT Poker Masters in September and the PGT PLO Series II in October. With the Last Chance finale title, Foxen now owns 12 career PGT titles.

Across 27 qualifying cashes, Foxen finished the season with $6,277,148 in PGT earnings and five wins. Rheem also won five times, while Soverel finished with four victories.

Soverel, Rheem Lead the Rest of the Top 10

Soverel’s runner-up finish came on the strength of volume and deep runs. He recorded 31 cashes, made 13 final tables and won four times, including two ARIA high roller victories, a WSOP bracelet in the $10,000 six-max championship, and a North American Poker Tour Las Vegas title at Resorts World.

Rheem finished with the most cashes on the PGT leaderboard at 35 and won five times, with victories spanning an eight-game event, two PLO tournaments, a $5,100 progressive knockout event and a no-limit hold’em event.

Michael Mizrachi placed fourth in the final standings with 2,286 points, followed by Joao Simao in fifth with 2,272. Nick Schulman (sixth), Jesse Lonis (seventh), Stephen Chidwick (eighth), Andrew Lichtenberger (ninth) and Kristen Foxen (10th) rounded out the top 10.
