Joao Simao won Event #55: $50,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller at the 2026 World Series of Poker, earning $1,368,700 and his fourth career WSOP bracelet.
The Brazilian topped a 110-entry field and defeated Santhosh Suvarna heads-up. Suvarna finished runner-up for $912,420.
Final Table Narrows to Three
Eight players returned for the final day, with Veselin Karakitukov the first to exit. He finished eighth for $152,020.
Naoya Kihara followed in seventh place for $189,720 after losing a hand against Simao. Yuri Dzivielevski then finished sixth for $244,510.
Carlo van Ravenswoud was eliminated in fifth place for $325,080, while Venkat Chivukula finished fourth for $445,440.
That left Simao, Suvarna, and Robert Cowen in three-handed play. Cowen eventually exited in third place for $628,510 after Suvarna flopped a straight and the board did not improve Cowen’s hand.
Simao Turns Heads-Up Around
Suvarna began heads-up with more than 63% of the chips in play. He had already won the $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller earlier in the series for $1,992,870, but Simao was able to recover from the deficit.
Simao doubled into a narrow lead with pocket aces, then increased his advantage after making a full house.
In the final hand, Suvarna moved in with pocket tens against Simao’s pocket aces. Suvarna had outs as the hand played out, but he did not improve, giving Simao the title.
With the win, Simao secured the fourth WSOP bracelet of his career and the top prize of $1,368,700.
